Negative: I was surprised that the host came in the middle of the night to This is the conversation with the host I still find it very unusual Hi Anke, I understand your concern, but I need to clarify a few important points. You booked a private room in a shared property, not an entire apartment. This means that common areas, and eventually other rooms, may be accessed by me or by other guests when they are booked. If you wanted complete exclusivity with no one entering the property at any time, the correct option would have been to book an entire home, not a shared listing. As the host, I am allowed to access the property when necessary for maintenance, organization, or to manage my belongings, always in a respectful way and without invading the guest’s privacy. I also informed you in advance about the time I would stop by specifically to avoid any surprises. I want you to feel comfortable, but it is also important that you understand the type of accommodation you chose. Nothing unusual is happening, this is simply how shared stays work. If you have any questions, I am here to help. Reply : Thank you for explaining, I really do appreciate your clarification. I completely understand that it’s a shared property and that you need to be able to manage your space and belongings — that makes perfect sense to me. I’m also still fairly new to shared accommodation, so I’m learning how different hosts manage things. In the past, even in shared places, I’ve usually been in single rooms where the host didn’t come by so late at night, so I wasn’t expecting anyone to enter the property between midnight and 1am. That timing just caught me off guard, especially with the long travel days and broken sleep rhythm from the flights. I don’t mean this as a complaint, just to explain why it felt unusual from my side. I understand you have responsibilities with your property and that sometimes these things can’t be helped.
