You will be treated with respect to your privacy or engaged in colourful conversation by very laid-back but not backwards locals. Sand Dollar is ideally in the center of the island and half way between Governor's Harbour and The Governor's Harbour Int'lAirport. Drive north to Harbour Island Dock in about an hour (Harbour Island is then a short water taxi ride) or all the way south to Light House Point in a little over an hour. A gated private paved drive off The Queen's Highway takes you to Sand Dollar Cottage nestled on 1 acre lot. A three minute down the hill has your toes in the the pink sands of Banana Beach. (At the end of the paved road, keep walking straight across grassy area to stairs to beach) A twelve minute walk takes you to The Sky Beach Club offering sea side Pascal's Bistro for the days you do not wish to cook, live entertainment, infinity pool and wifi. Sand Dollar is simple classy style keeping with Island life and getting away from it all. Air Conditioning, WIFI, board games and books to enjoy as you laze in the swinging hammock chairs on the veranda. The settlement of Governor's Harbour is 5 minute drive where you will find all you need including fresh fish at the dock, sea front coffee shop, traditional Bahamian restaurants and takeaway, grocery & liquor stores, banks and laundry mat.
Enjoy great eating with fresh organic produce/baking/sauces/dressings from The Island Farm, fresh fish and lobster in season from the dock in Governor's Harbour or other towns you will discover, bread, key lime pie, rum cake are but a few baked from "scratch" delights at Dale's bakery.
There are several quaint oceanside restraunts & bars, a full page of current establishments with a value and 'delicious' rating is at the cottage.Sky Beach Club offers relaxing pool side bar and Bistro w WIFI only a 12 minute walk from The Sand Dollar. Car rentals are friendly and reliable.
