For history enthusiasts, Dovercourt and Harwich enjoy a rich maritime history. The Harwich Redoubt Fort, 1 mile away, offers interactive military and social history, or visit the Light ship LV18, associated with the floating Pirate radio station. Take the passenger ferry to Landguard or Shotley, or join a seal watching trip. Further afield, the Stour Estuary, 6 miles away, is the perfect spot for walking, cycling and birdwatching.
